Pay and Health Care

  1. Fair Pay & Structures: Ensure fair pay for educators, including a living wage for paraprofessionals and all UFT titles. We support equal pay for equal work.

  2. Pay Raises Above Inflation: Secure raises that outpace the cost of living, avoiding sub-inflation ‘increases’ that are actually pay cuts. 

  3. Pension Reform: Jointly lobby for supportive state legislation to achieve pension benefits for Tier V and Tier VI members equal to or exceeding Tier IV benefits.

  4. Healthcare Protections: Fight to restore and improve healthcare benefits, reversing cuts from past agreements to ensure high-quality, affordable healthcare for all members. Ensure all members, including new members, are free to choose their healthcare plan. We will fight for comprehensive coverage with no premiums, co-pays, deductibles, coinsurance, or any other add-on charges.

  5. 12 Weeks Paid Family Leave: Reform current Paid Family Leave policy from 6 weeks to the full 12 weeks offered to New York State employees.
